Hello, Andrew here with my first post on the blog for 2016! I hope that everyone had a great 2015 and had some well-earned rest over the holiday season.
This blog has gone from strength to strength in the last year. We have featured posts on a variety of topics relating to recycling and reuse and these have attracted readers from Aberdeen and all around the world. So thank you for taking an interest in our work!
This blog is a great way for us to share more information about the projects we are working on and to provide ideas on how to reduce, reuse and recycle more. It also allows you, our readers, to give feedback and to share any stories you have. We are always looking for ideas for new topics to write about, so we welcome your thoughts and suggestions – please leave us a comment below or email email@example.com.
I also wanted to let you know a little bit about what the recycling team will be up to in 2016. It looks like it’s going to be a busy year! We are currently supporting the introduction of new communal mixed recycling bins which begins in Bridge of Don and Seaton later this month and will continue across the city throughout 2016. We will also be continuing to deal with the many new housing developments that are being built all over the city. New developments mean new bin stores, recycling services and of course householders who need to know all about the services on offer. And of course we’ll be attending lots of events throughout 2016. You will be able to keep track of where we are and when by liking our Facebook page.
Next month, we are running a campaign to encourage students and other members of the local community, to use their food recycling caddies – look out for more details about this soon. And because we want to see more people donating more items to charity and for reuse in Aberdeen, in the spring we will be launching a re-use map of the city which will show what items you can take where.
We are also in the early stages of creating a new ‘leftovers’ recipe book, which will contain healthy and delicious ‘leftover‘ recipes from different countries. This builds on the Love Your Food recipe book that we produced a couple of years ago. If you have a recipe that you’d like to submit, drop us a line using the contact details above.
So there is lots going on and we will have lots to share with you over the next few weeks and months – keep reading!
